Sanctuary Rabbits -- Our sanctuary rabbits need your support.
When you adopt a sanctuary rabbit or a pair of them, they will become yours, but HRS will continue to provide for their medical care throughout their lives. If you are unable to take in a sanctuary rabbit, please consider making a donation toward the considerable expenses of these special rabbits.

Fergus and Guinevere are sanctuary rabbits looking for a loving home. Check out their story here.
Jacques and Panda were adopted several years ago but when a human baby entered the family there was no time for the rabbits and they ended up in foster care once again. Unfortunately this is a story we hear much too often. Jacques and Panda have each other but they would love to have a family to call their own. Jacques is a french angora. He enjoys grooming time and just sitting on your lap. Panda is an older gal who would like to find a home to spend her senior years.

Charlot and Trixxie It would be hard to find a smaller, cuter pair of Lion Heads. Charlot and Trixxie are a little on the shy side until they get to know you. But when you take the time to get to know them they will entertain you with their silly hops. Once they are comfortable in a room they like to race around in circles and then flop on the floor. They are very well-behaved when it comes time for brushing and nail-clipping. Since they are used to living with each other they need to be adopted together.

William and Shakespeare **PENDING ADOPTION**- Shakespeare, the grey and white rabbit is more adventurous and independent. William likes Shakespeare to take the lead when they are exploring. William, the tan and white rabbit is the most affectionate and really likes to be petted but is a little more unsure of new situations. As a pair, you get the best of both kinds.  These angora boys are being kept clipped short now.  Their coats need this every 2 months if they are not given daily grooming sessions.

Single Boys

Abraham **PENDING ADOPTION**is a special young rabbit. At about a year and half old, this mini-rex has TONS of personality. He will shower his owner with attention, binkies, and best of all, bunny kisses. He is literally like a small soft puppy who constantly wants attention and love. He is vocal (he loves to grunt), opinionated, and affectionate. Abraham is choosy about his animal friends but has not ruled one out. He adores people. Abraham has had a rough start...from the mean streets of DC to his fear of cats...but he has given his foster parents so much love and joy and can't wait to shower his forever family with affection.

Bertie is a dapper young man with a very silly side. It was difficult to get a good photo of him since he is almost always in motion. He only stops if he thinks there are some pets to be had. He loves to explore new places and will delight you with his antics. He was turned into the shelter a s a stray at the beginning of December and they estimated his age as 1 year. He certainly seems quite young and active.

Blake is a stunning black, gray and white boy.  His mom was pregnant when she was surrendered to an animal shelter and she had 11 babies!!  Yes....I said eleven.  Blake is by far the best looking of all the big babies.  He is waiting for a permanent home either as a friend for another rabbit(s) or with one or more of his siblings.  Since he is used to living with 11 other rabbits, his rabbit social skills are highly developed so he will make some lucky rabbit(s) a good companion.

Leland has been ADOPTED, YAY!!
MoJo is a brown and white dutch boy. His name says it all. He is confident but also a big love. He is another truly 11th hour rescue. The shelter he was surrendered to deemed him unadoptable and was going to put him to sleep if we did not take him. We couldn't say no to such a diamond in the rough.  Since being in foster care for a few months Mojo is no longer a diamond in the rough.  He is now a sparkling diamond.  He is very lovable and actually likes to be held which is unusual for a rabbit

Russell **PENDING ADOPTION**- Hi, my name is Russell and I could be the neatest bunny you've ever seen. I've never done anything outside of my litterbox.  I came to the shelter with 3 other bunnies, but we were all  kept separate from each other. I wasn't used to being touched at all, so I was pretty scared at first, but despite that, I did bunny dances my  first day out of the shelter. I couldn't believe how much room I had at my foster home after being stuck in a little cage before.  Within a week, my foster mom could pet me. I'm a very nice, sweet,  boy, still a little shy, but certainly not skittish anymore.  And I don't mean to be conceited, but I am  gorgeous. May 2007 is when I was born, so I'm a young eligible bachelor.  Maybe I could meet your girl bunny who's looking for somebun to cuddle?

Gloria is a beautiful brown agouti and white lop.  She was over looked for awhile at the shelter because she was afraid and hung in the back of her cage and she is a little on the larger side.  She has really blossomed in foster care.  She is now a very sweet rabbit who comes right up to people to greet them and be petted.  Because of her sweet nature and larger size we think she would be a great choice for a family with children.

Mopsey is a big, black mini-lop girl with a big personality to match.  She has had a hard time finding a home because she doesn't play well with other rabbits and she can be a bit grumpy.  Although she has her outer defensive side, underneath it all she is a big softy who melts when being petted.  She is just waiting for the right rabbit person to help her take down her wall.  Who knows, she may even meet mister bunny right someday.  You never know when the right bun will steal her heart.

Shannon is a lovely female lop with beautiful eyes.  She was a stray, so we don't know too much about her past, but she is a young adult.  She has a quiet disposition and is a little shy at first, but when she warms up, she loves to be petted.  She has a playful nature also, and likes  to take a sheet of newspaper in her mouth and prance around with it as it flies in the air.
